Who's ready to read some thrillers? September seemed to be the month of only thrillers! Good thing is that they are popular so I had plenty to choose from. See my reviews below:

The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena

Summary: The story is based around this couple who goes next door for a dinner party to come home and realize their baby is gone. It follows along throughout the book trying to solve the mystery of who took their daughter and why -- questioning everyone and every thing.

Why I Liked It: I liked it mainly because it kept me guessing. It painted every character in a bad light so you didn't know who to trust and you we're sure if you had a reliable narrator or not. The best was the surprise AFTER you find out who did it. The last page was like WOAH.

Would I Recommend It: Yes

The Vanishing Year by Kate Moretti
Summary: The Vanishing Year (idk why it's called that) is about this New York social elite couple who has it all. Mainly focused on the wife, Zoe, who has some what of a troubled past and up until this point has been known as three different people. But as they say the past always has a way of finding you and in this book there are a ton of twists and turns to get her back.

Why I Liked It: It took about 2/3 of the book to actually get to the story and what is going on but once it got going it was pretty good. I will admit that I did figure it out before the book ended but it was still good to see how it played out. It wasn't as intense as the book below but still pretty good. I just wish it moved along quicker!

Would I Recommend It: Yes?

Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris
Summary: Behind Closed Doors is about this "perfect" couple who -- to the outside world -- are perfect. They are madly in love, always side by side and somewhat obsessed with each other. But behind the high wall and metal shutters is a different story. Maybe the man you married isn't the man you thought you knew. And now you're up for the challenge of a lifetime: how to escape.

Why I Liked It: Omg I've never had such an emotional reaction to a book before. I literally could not put it down and was just begging to go to the next page. It wasn't even that gruesome but it was so suspenseful. I really really loved this book. It's a must read (but just know you've been warned)!

Would I Recommend It: OMG YES

The Lying Game by Ruth Ware
Summary: The Lying Game is about four girls from boarding school and their inseparable bond -- no matter what. As the story progresses and jumps back and forth from present to past, you find the source of their biggest lie and why they all come running when a bone washes up on the shore.

Why I Didn't Like It: So we actually picked this book for our recent book club since Ruth had such a great reputation but it ended up we all hated the book. It had so many little stories within the story that didn't pan out. And the mystery didn't even really make that much sense. There are just too many holes in the story and I found all the characters so unlikeable. Overall just did not like this book.

Would I Recommend It: No

Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll
Summary: Luckiest Girl Alive is the story of a girl who has it all on the outside but inside is a mess. You learn there was drama as a teenager growing up but never truly get the full story until someone approaches her and tries to dig deep. But reliving it and telling the full story could do more harm than good for her. So she has a choice: relive the worst moment of your life or pretend like it never happened.

Why I Liked It: I liked it because it told a story I hadn't read before. For a lot of books I feel like they are the same over and over again with a different twist but this one was truly something else. Sure it was about a perfect girl not trying to relive her past but when you find out WHY she doesnt want to relive it, it's crazy. It kept me turning the page begging to know more.

Would I Recommend It: Yes

Sorry I've been so behind on the book reviews. I actually read a ton more between February and now but I just wanted to round up my favorite thrillers from the past couple months and share them now so this post doesn't get so long. Will be making sure I do these monthly again!
